At this week's meeting, Michelle Brooks, the producer announced that shooting should be finishing up this weekend - meaning that director Ryan Tharp can finally say "It's a Wrap," officially bringing the workshop crew into post production. Plans for this week include capturing any footage still on tapes and finishing up editing by next week so that there will be a full week to work on audio sweetening and rendering for the final, completed movie of Save the Theater. Along with capturing all of the good takes for editing, members have taken care to mark all of the particularly funny mess ups - the bloopers - that took place during production. When the completed DVD version of Save the Theater comes out, we'll be able to look forward to a full blooper reel along with it!
There's a definite time crunch to get everything done on time (in Dr. Pace's words, "People don't finish their films, they run out of time") but this semester's film crew has kept on track with things by staying organized, being available, and of course, having plenty of people on the team! The movie night on April 25th actually has 3 different showtimes throughout the evening. Along with the premiere showing of Save the Phoenix, several other short films will be shown from the Electronic Cinematography class. More information to come!

Progress has been pretty steady for the production of Save the Theater. The film workshop crew is continuing to knock out various scenes and making plans to get all of the shooting done with plenty of time to edit and work on sound. With only a few weeks of school left, they are in good standing. Pictures from this years production are on their way, so be sure to check them out!

As the crew continues to film, the executive staff is assigning various projects to members of the crew in order to get things done during the week, since most of the filming is done on weekends. Most of the projects are publicity related, such as press releases, trailers, and movie posters that will be going up soon to promote the film. Once finished, students should start hearing and seeing more and more about Save the Theater and when it’s headed into a theater of its own for the student body to see.
As for shooting, the film workshop plans on having a busy weekend what with the weekend off they received last week due to Easter Break. Shoots are scheduled for Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday of this week. Don't forget, April 25th is the big Movie Night, everyone!

The film workshop crew has finally kicked into action, with filming started and an involved shooting schedule for the next month. The crew put several hours of shooting in this past weekend, some scenes taking up to five hours long! A small price to pay for quality shooting, of course. During this week’s meeting, members of the workshop watched some of their raw footage with Dr. Pace. He pointed out the quality parts of their footage, and also showed them what areas need improvement.
The makings of a brand new comedy can be found just by watching the raw footage, as the actors get into their characters, perfecting their unique personalities and delivering some humorous lines. One difference between this workshop and past film workshops is the organization. With a larger crew, the opportunity to keep ahead of the game (logging good takes, capturing footage immediately after its shot, etc.) presents itself. Such organization will make worlds of difference once the crew is in post production.

At this point in the semester, the film workshop crew is facing those bumps and glitches that film workshop is notorious for having. Michelle Brooks, the producer, is looking for a new actor for a specific role as one of the actors dropped out. The rest of the crew is assisting as well as working together to adjust the script for a different character. The crew is also working through problems with shooting at the Moxie theater as it is not available at the most opportune times.
Despite the few problems that have popped up within the past few days, shooting is scheduled for this Friday and the rest of March and April will be full of shooting for the making of Save the Phoenix! The film workshop will be needing plenty of extras for various scenes so if you're interested, contact Michelle Brooks or Dr. Pace and come be a part of the film.

Casting is now finished and the actors for the film have been chosen. The film crew has yet to begin filming but is scheduling several shoot dates for the next upcoming months. Members are also tweaking the script and writing in more comedy.

The film workshop crew is currently in the production of the comedic film, Save the Theater (working title). There are 12 students in the workshop this semester, which is more than any previous semesters. (Twice as many students as last semester, in fact!) If you're curious to know what's currently going on, keep checking back here for more details.
The class is currently working on polishing up the script for the movie, and casting is scheduled to be held next Monday, February 11. Keep your eye out for an email or flyer with more details if you are interested in trying out for the film.
The basic story line follows some college students who work at a small movie theater that shows indie films. When they are informed by their boss that due to lack of business the theater will have to close, they decide to pull together their best efforts to save the theater.
The movie will probably be close to an hour long when it's finished. Mark your calendars to go see it on Friday, April 25th.
