Their main responsibility is to advise the editor-in-chief throughout the year and to ensure that quality is maintained at each step of the way. Pace-Miller is dedicated to making the Excalibur the highest quality possible and developing the students on the Excalibur staff to become young professionals in their field.

 

Roman Burleson

This position is the primary director of the Excalibur yearbook.  Acting as a planner, organizer, and liaison with the staff, plant, and adviser, this position requires good personal skills, an understanding of written communication, and time management. This individual is accountable for completion of the yearbook in a timely manner. (Stipend)

 

 

Anna Lester

Managing Editor

This position is the “work horse” of the Excalibur staff.  Second in command and shared accountability for completion of the book, this individual is the ultimate organizer and weekly manager of time and duties.  Working closely with the editor, the managing editor is the “take charge” individual, executing and distributing assignments and finalizing all pages to be submitted to the plant for printing.  (Stipend)

 

 

Cassie McDaniel

Copy Editor

The copy editor is required to research, gather, and edit all copy that is submitted to the Excalibur for submission to the book.  This person needs to enjoy reading, editing, and writing.  It is expected that this staff position would be an authority on AP style. (Stipend)

 

Allison Drewitz

Works closely with the editor as their assistant to get the deadlines done—helps with quality control and perfecting the pages

 

Jonathan Tharp

Layout Design Editor

This position is a true visual communicator with skills in desktop publishing and design.  The layout/design editor works with the editor and managing editor to determine page layout and theme development for the yearbook.  Big position, but it has huge impact on a resume. Stipend)

 

 

 

Emily Henderson

Photo Editor

HUGE job.  This individual must have a thorough knowledge of photography.  It would be helpful to have a working background in Photoshop.  The photo editor is the organizer of the photo crew, making assignments and following through with photos for the editorial staff to use for production night.  Privileges of the job: Your work gets published with photo credits.

This position is a business position. To produce and pay for the book, the Excalibur advertising manager has an enormous responsibility to sell enough advertising to supplement additional charges to publish the yearbook that aren’t covered with student fees.  This isn’t a job for a shy person.  The job is tough, but the rewards are great.  This job isn’t paid by a stipend.  It is a pure commission job, making 15% of the total advertising income sold and collected.  Not for the faint of heart, this individual should be an eager advertising professional ready to work in sales.  (Commission)
