KECC Radio The BUZZ
KECC - Cable Design Makeover
KECC will launch a new design layout on the Evangel University cable system.
KECC 98.1 FM The BUZZ broadcasts their station through the EU cable system on channel 13. This allows for students, and anyone capable of receiving campus cable, the ability to tune into The Buzz and watch the live signal from the On- Air studio any time they please. Although the live stream of the station has been around for a couple of years, with the new design and look of KECC, it was in need of a new design.
With the new logo and design created this summer by Andrew Farmer, it was necessary for a new look. Gabe Mays, the staff head of the station, as well as Daniel Shedd, the Promotions Manager, put together a new layout design, created to match the new logo.
The new layout features the new logo, as well as light flares around the screen. The layout allows the use of 5 tabs (DJ's, Top Songs, Events, Chapel, and Weather) and the ability to update these on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. This makes the station able to keep the students on campus up to date with this subject matter.
The layout goes live sometime this week, so look for in on campus cable channel 13!
KECC Summer 2010 Makeover
If you were to ask a college student what their definition of summer was, you would hear many different answers. For most, summer is a time for making money. With school bills to pay and other expenses to account for, these students are diligently working 40+ hours a week, with hardly any free time. For others, it's a relaxing time at home with friends and family, with perhaps a summer school class schedule much easier than the normal credit load. For the lucky few, it's a time to completely disengage from the world, go out all the time, have fun, and relax in all that summer has to offer. Summer at the KECC radio station on Evangel University's campus was a mixture of all three of these options. Many hours were spent in organizing, enhancing, and improving the radio station. Everything from the software in the computers to the decorations in the station's lobby underwent some kind of change.
If you were to walk into the radio station's lobby, the first thing you would notice is the brand new large format canvas print. Andrew Farmer, an Evangel Graduate, created this canvas art. Farmer was able to completely give the lobby and KECC logo a whole new energy. Also in the lobby, station manager, Gabe Mays, purchased new furniture and lighting. This new look of the lobby will be sure to stand out to any new visitors.
Further into the station and quite possibly hidden from the average persons view of the studio, many more improvements were made in this past summer's renovation. Starting in the Station office, new desks have been purchased for all of the computers. A new sound system as well as a HD display monitor on the main computer has also been installed.
Perhaps the recording studio underwent the biggest changes in the KECC station. First off, a brand new touch screen was installed on the DJ computer. This computer is loaded with a brand new automation system, which will allow students and station staff to easily organize and operate the music played on the radio. Also, dual monitors were installed on the co-hosts computer. This will make it easier for them to keep station logs, as well as give them plenty of room to spread out newscasts, weather updates, and current events to read on-air.
All in all, the radio station has come back from summer with just as much refreshment and improvements as the students.
