The Lance is Evangel University's very own newspaper. It reaches everyone on campus and it spreads local, campus, and state wide news to the students and the staff of EU. The Lance is run by a group of students who are assisted by some faculty members. The Lance is a great way to learn about what is happening around the area. " I loved working on the Lance this year. The staff is such a talented group of people. They worked hard every week and we really produced some great papers. This year we switched to a 8-page broadsheet paper, which added a lot more space to fill. The staff really stepped up to fill the space with timely stories that the readers care about. Every week we The Lance documents the history of Evangel, this can create a lot of pressure, but we thrive on that as a staff. Speaking for myself, I realize the responsibility that producing a paper entails--it is hard work--but we have proved to ourselves as a staff that we can handle it. The world of communication is fast-paced, this year has been great preparation for our futures. I have seen each person on staff grow as a person and as a writer, photographer, editor, manager, designer this year, and I am so glad I could be a part of it. The awards we recently won at MCMA and SCJ prove the talent of the staff-they deserved those awards.
We have created so many memories together as a staff--when you stay up into all hours of the night with people you get to know them really well. There are too many moments to name, but overall I love to laugh with these people. Most of the time I have to be a no-nonsense boss, but some of my favorite times with the staff are when we are fooling around and laughing, like when we look at a funny picture from sports.
Overall,this year has been really challenging, but we learned a lot as a staff and grew in our individual talents. I really thank everyone who was a part of that."Updated 04-22-2012
